Safety & Security
Your safety is our top priority
Important: While we work hard to maintain a safe platform, please remain vigilant and follow these safety guidelines at all times.
Profile Safety
- • Protect Your Identity: Don't share your full name, address, workplace details, or other identifying information in your profile or initial messages.
- • Use Platform Messaging: Keep conversations on SugarDate.org until you've established trust. Avoid sharing personal phone numbers or social media too soon.
- • Verify Profiles: Look for verified badges and be cautious of profiles with limited information or stock photos.
- • Report Suspicious Behavior: If something feels off, trust your instincts and report the profile to our support team immediately.
Meeting in Person
- • Public Places First: Always meet in public, well-lit places for the first several dates. Coffee shops, restaurants, and busy venues are ideal.
- • Tell Someone: Let a trusted friend or family member know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to return.
- • Arrange Your Own Transportation: Drive yourself or use a taxi/rideshare service. Don't accept rides from your date initially.
- • Stay Sober: Keep a clear head during first meetings. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption and never leave your drink unattended.
- • Trust Your Gut: If you feel uncomfortable at any point, it's okay to end the date early and leave.
Financial Safety
- • Never Send Money: Be extremely cautious of anyone asking for money, bank details, or financial assistance before meeting in person.
- • Beware of Scams: Common scams include emergency situations, investment opportunities, or requests to help with fees/taxes.
- • Protect Banking Information: Never share your bank account, credit card, or social security numbers.
- • Discuss Arrangements Clearly: Once trust is established, be clear and transparent about financial arrangements and expectations.
Online Safety
- • Strong Passwords: Use a unique, strong password for your SugarDate.org account. Enable two-factor authentication if available.
- • Secure Devices: Keep your devices secure with passwords/biometrics and up-to-date security software.
- • Phishing Awareness: Be cautious of emails or messages asking for login credentials. SugarDate.org will never ask for your password via email.
- • Privacy Settings: Review and adjust your privacy settings regularly to control who can see your profile and information.
